When Life Falls Apart, We Show Up

Our Founders

  • Michael Caldwell

Michael Caldwell is the principal attorney and owner of Caldwell Law Firm in San Rafael, as well as a partner and co-founder of K&C Investments, Inc., with offices in Sacramento and San Rafael. With over 30 years of experience across both ventures, he has dedicated his career to serving individuals from all walks of life, addressing a wide range of legal and personal challenges.

Fatherhood deepened Michael’s commitment to community service. Alongside his children, Grace and Jack, and the nonprofit’s board members, he has championed hands-on philanthropy—embodying the 4T’s: Time, Touch, Talent, and Treasure—to make a daily impact in their communities.

This mission extends through School Worx, the nonprofit he founded to bridge educational gaps for families in Marin and Sonoma counties. By providing school supplies, uniforms, tutoring, nutrition support, and access to arts and athletics, School Worx ensures children have the tools to thrive, both in and out of the classroom.

  • Grace Caldwell

Community service has been part of my life since before I could even walk. My dad has a photo of me strapped to his chest in a Baby Bjorn while we handed out food to the homeless in San Francisco.

These days, I’m still involved in giving back—whether it’s organizing sock drives, making meals for people in need, or helping my dad and friends put together care packages for homeless encampments across the Bay Area. My brother and I also save up to donate to causes we care about. St. Jude’s is one of my favorites, along with Wednesday’s Gift, which we’ve been part of since I was born.

School Worx started after a conversation with our pastor. He’d just returned from Africa and told us about kids who couldn’t attend school because they couldn’t afford uniforms—something as simple as $12 stood in their way. Hearing how much education meant to them inspired us to find ways to help, both there and here at home.

Now, as a student at the University of Colorado Boulder, I don’t take my opportunities for granted. Being able to go to school, play sports, and enjoy music is a gift—one I want more kids to have. That’s why we’re working to make a difference.

  • Jack Caldwell

Hi, I’m Jack Caldwell! I’m 15 years old and a Sophomore at Redwood High. I love playing basketball and golf.

My dad gets our whole family involved in helping homeless people. We go to Costco and Target with giant carts to buy socks, toothpaste, soap, and food—that part’s fun because the workers are nice to us. Packing everything into care bags isn’t as fun, but we get help from my dad’s friends and family like Auntie Lisa, Freddy, Larry, and my sister Grace.

Sometimes it’s a little scary when we hand out the bags—we go under freeways where people live outside. I also help neighbors and people in throughout the Bay Area.

Most of all, I want other kids to have what I do: the chance to go to school, play sports, and work hard so they can get a good job someday. It’s super fun to help make that happen!
